Is it possible to do this as a day trip from HK? Running out of time and wanting to squeeze in some extra stuff so, although not ideal, is it worth just a day or an over-night trip?

I think it'd need to be an overnight trip - check at the China Ferry terminal in TST but I think ferries to Zhaoqing are only onc a day...
