50th Birthday ideas?

Its my wife's big five-oh in a bit over a month, and I'm sort of out of ideas of something unique and 'Hong Kongish' to do with her and a dozen or so friends. Any good ideas to make me look like a genius?

I'm off for a week over the weekend, so even if I'm unable to reply to this thread, I will catch up with your ideas when I get back.

For the record; she's not a big 'material girl', so it doesn't have to impress her with the expense. She likes personable, fun, outdoorsy stuff.

Thanks in advance....and you're all invited :-)

Forget the friends.

She's probably more impressed with you doing something romantic just with her.

Try couples spa. Works a charm :) I can recommend the 4 Seasons having been there myself, book the couples room for 2 hours. Guaranteed hit and its not that expensive so does not look like something too material. And don't forget flowers and the magic "l" word.

Then of course throw her a party for her friends at her favourite restaurant.

Jaspas Junk?

I doubt a spa for an outdoorsy person is a good bet. The junk sounds good, but it doesn't have to be Jaspas...you can rent one in Sai Kung for the day, go around, swim, eat at one of the seldom visited restaurants on the islands or in the park out there, and have a lovely day. And for God's sake, NO jokes about getting old, or menopause, or ANYTHING remotely like that. Flowers are great; the magic "L" word you should be saying to her every morning and night...

The junk idea is in the right vein, but we have already done the SaiKung/swim/seafood dinner outing several times.

One thing she suggested was to (believe it or not) rent a bowling alley and invite a bunch of friends for a night out. I had also suggested hiking in to a campground on Lantau and spending the night. But neither of these has the 'magic factor' I'm looking for.
