Marine Department for the exams to get the Certificate of Competency. The Hong Kong Sailing Federation (HKSF) offers training.

More info here:

www.mardep.gov.hk/en/pub_services/ocean/pleasure.html

and

Fairly simple MCQ exam - since 01 Januray computerized, I believe (like SAT, GMAT, etc.).

In addition to Sailing Federation (http://www.sailing.org.hk/pvol.htm), RHKYC and other boat clubs also offer courses.

Oh, and BTW, I got already a french boating license... You know if there's any way I can get an equivalence in here ? Or that's impossible ?

Apparently the exam has changed on 1 March. Has anyone passed the exam since then (Masters Grade II) and is willing to answer some questions? I can contact you via pm or phone. Thanks in advance. This is fairly urgend. Cheers.

Ring and check with the marine department - the ladies are extremely helpful. You may be able to exchange your French license (or part) - I know that if you have the Australian one, then you automatically qualify for the Masters (Grade 1) but still have to sit the engineers bit. I guess it depends where your license is from and what it includes...

I am doing it through sea dynamics at the moment who offer an intensive course 3hours a night for six nights, mock exams and then the exam - which you book through mardep. www.seadynamics.com.hk

Hello,

I have recently moved to Hong Kong and bought a 23 foot cruiser. I need to get my PVOCC Grade 2 Certificate of Competence and am looking for someone who has taken the test recently and can answer some questions to help focus my studies.

I'm willing to offer compensation for your assistance.

Please message me if you are interested.

There is only one way to get you license in HK. Go see Tommy at Seadynamics.com.hk

What a load of tosh. Seadynamics are overpriced anyway. The "only" way to get your license is by taking the Marine Dept exams, all Seadynamics and companies such as Anmboating (much cheaper) can do is help prepare for the exam.

Local companies are always terrible self promoters on expat websites!

I'm interested in learning how to sail. Are there any schools here in Hong Kong to sign up at?
