So I have booked a ticket- trying to find a hotel. It says you can't swim at a few beaches and several reviews from guests of hotels said they spend alot of time in the pools. Can you swim there? I know they have jellyfish season (in kota kinabalu i couldnt swim either)..but I am looking at hotels on the beach..but if you can't swim anyways I should take a cheaper hotel without a beach.. hmm any advice from someone who has been??

I'll be going tomorrow, so will let you know when I'm back on Monday. I had been to Langkawi many yrs ago, but cannot recall exactly which is the best beach to swim. Datai is one of the nicest hotel with a private beach.

Canadiangirl,
Tanjung Rhu- sea seems safe to swim as the resort's guests were swimming in the sea. Water was clear. Check daily with the resort's beach security personnel, who are at the beach area, before going in for the swim.
Andaman resort- the beach is fabulous and only for hotel guests. Safe to swim now, but check with hotel staff, in case there are any warnings.

Hi hotwheels
We went with Cathay holidays, we flew business class so the cost was much higher but I think 3 nights with economy flights is around HK8.000 per person
The website link is below,
It’s not cheap but I would highly recommend it we had an amazing time

The Datai is amazing but if you are looking for a cheaper option try the Casa del Mar. Not sure about being able to swim but the hotel is one of the nicest I have stayed in and the service in spot on. Almost Datai-esque but at a quarter of the price.
