does anybody know if you can buy flyscreens in HKG?

We currently dont have any, but the mozzies are driving us crazy and i'd prefer to have fresh air with the windows open - was thinking of maybe mocking something up just to cover portion of the windows i wanted to keep open??

(as an aside, do those plug-in mosquito repellent things really work or is it just another scam???).

thanks heaps.

does your boss have a rolling flyscreen too (rollaway insect screen)?

i've seen this in some homes and it is where you can openyour window and roll down the flyscreen if required.

Yeah, thanks for the heads up, but was more looking for just a place where i can buy a few meters worth rather than get a whole new screen put in - back in Aust. you can just go to the local hardware store and buy some flyscreen off the roll...thats all i was looking for...anything similar here ???

There are SO many around, and so cheap. There are the sliding kinds, the opening kind (like the windows), and the rollup kind.

I personally think the rollup kind is not very good, easily breaks, and hard to keep those locks on the side locked properly.

Now we have the opened like window type, they are the best. Easiest to have.

I also know there are ones you can buy to DIY. You can buy it from Dollar shops, cut it the size you want, then stick velcro around the frame.... then it's done! Very affordable and can be removed anytime, and you don't even have to call the screen guy to come and measure or give you an estimate.

But if you want it to LOOK nice, and there are a lot of windows you plan to open... then better to get a professional company to do it.
