I am British and going to the states on holiday in the summer. I would like to take my Pilipino helper with me for 2 weeks. I have spoken to the consulate and it is quite a complicated procedure and you need to apply for a visa.

Has anyone done this, did anyone get refused or visa granted etc and so why?

Would love to know

Many thanks

Nobody is a more fervent supporter of the rights of helpers than I, and I also lack sympathy for lazy expats who cannot take care of themselves, but stop being so judgemental!

You do not know what circleimc's individual situation is. Many of us hire help because we do not have spouses or extended family and we have several children who we need help with. Perhaps circleimc is lazy and wants to show off a bit, but maybe she/he is a single parent or caring for an aging or sick relative or dealing with a health condition of his/her own.

Perhaps there is a way to help with the visa process Stateside.

My American friend took her Filipino helper during one their home visit.

The helper did not os(overstayed), and to date has visited US countless of times, she would rather stay in Japan.

Maybe there is a special reason why you need her, the embassy does case-to-case decision.

Book an appt. with the visa section.
