Has anyone rejected an ESF place for Kindergarten and then gone on to be accepted for primary? My husband seems to think it will be a black mark against our son if we turn the current offered place down but is this true?

I haven't turned a place down, but I did defer a place an at ESF kindy. My daughter was offered a place to start kindy at Easter, when she was 3yrs 2months, I decided it was too young so asked for the place in the september instead, they had no problem with it. It shouldn't make any difference to going to an ESF primary if you are a native English speaker, although it may lower your priority.

it will not have any impact on your child getting into an ESF primary school later on. ESF kindys are run by ESF ed services and do not have a direct link. Chdn are interviewed to get into ESF primarys to ensure that their is english is of a sufficiently high level to access the curriculum. Please note, just because a child goes to an ESF kindy does not automatically mean they will get into an ESF school..... they have to pass the individual school interview.
