Hi I have friends coming to stay during Easter and we plan to travel for 3 days into China. Can they get a single entry visa at LoWu to cover a five day visit? Thanks in advance (did post this in travel but no response - hope someone has knowledge in regards to this)

Thanks to those who have offered advice - they are coming from Australia and are applying for the China visa at Lo Wu - thought it easier than doing it in Melb. We will then head to Guilin for a few days.

I would suggest that your friends apply for the China visa in Melbourne if they have enough time before they come to HK. I recently applied for mine in Oz, was cheaper than in HK, took 5 days.

yes Aust passport holders can get a visa at the Lowu border but only for the Special Economic Zone of Shenzhen. Cannot legally go outside that zone.
If going further nust obtain a full China Visa - not sure if that can be done at Lowu border point.

Would suggest your friends give them a phone call to find out the opening hours for dropping off and collecting. Need passport, application form, passport sized photo. Much easier than getting here in HK.

When I first got here (like 3mths ago) I went with some NETs I met and got my visa at the Lo Wu border - when my HK Id card eventually came through with the work visa I could apply for a 6mth visa - which I did. The one you get at the border is a single entry visa and I have just learnt it's only a visa for the Shenzhen zone.
Following info I rec here today I have advised my friends to get one in Melb as we are going further that Shenzhen - but you should be fine getting a visa at the border (end of KCR east rail) just to go to the shopping area.
