White tattoo

Would anybody know of a tattoo artist experienced in doing all white tattoos? I heard they look amazing, yet subtle, which is great for work as it's not too noticeable.

Would also love to hear of your experiences or stories with white tattoos! =)

Kaat, hmmm white tattoo hey. Alot of profestional tattoo artists wont do them as they dont last. White is an accent color which is one of the first colors to fade out of the skin. You cant put it in sunlight or anything as it will just fade off. It might look ok for a very short period of time but then you will just be lift with a kind of scar outline. For me, either get a tattoo or dont but thats just me.

D.L: are both your tattoos white?

D-Man: I'm of Chinese descent but have quite pale skin...

I've searched on the internet but only found photos of white tattoos on fair-skinned people which is why I want to do more research on it before going for the plunge.

Any other opinions or recommendations are much appreciated!!

yup- its true white is the most unstable of all colours- it is true for all types of paints/inks. the pigment separates very quickly from the carrier making it crack and patch during drying time..( ie white makeup, white wall paint ) it is true that most artists painting a wall white will do it more than once to get the best results. I find when doing white tattoos you should avoid large areas of white- try to stick with line work, and if the artist knows how to mix pigment, they might tint the white ever so slightly to get better coverage on the larger areas...but it may be something you need to do atleast twice...joanne

Hey everyone. This is Julia from Star Crossed. I've never actually done an all white tattoo in Hong Kong or anywhere else for that matter. I'll always warn the customers who ask for them of the problems talked about above. Large amounts of white will fade or discolour over time no matter what you do. If you like the idea of a very pale tattoo...you can do a colour wash which heals up much softer and delicate. White ink can look great when used as a highlight or line work...but I'd steer clear of something fairly sizeable in solid white.

You can check out my work at www.starcrossedtattoo.com

Cheers and Happy Easter.
