tenant rights

Our landlord is keen to sell his flat, wants it to be viewed by potential buyers in these next three months, till we move out. Do we have no choice as to the time when the agent can bring someone over? I can understand that potential buyers have to obviously view the flat, but should we not have even a small say on when would be a good time. If they say 3.00PM on a particular day, even with 24 hrs notice, but we all have to go out on that day and no one at home, do we have to change our entire plan to accommodate their request?

I wouldn't ! I had a tenant, and when I wanted to sell my place, I informed her, and asked her when would be a good time, just 1 day a week. She told me Saturday, and so I told the agents, this place is for sale, but viewing is only on Saturdays. It's only fair to the tenant, as you are still paying rent, and you are entitled to your privacy.

HONESTLY speaking, what can the landlord do? Surely he won't just take his key to open your flat without your permission?

Just inform your landlord that you understand the need to let people view the flat, but maybe compromise on a day or two in the week, and the hours.

The real estate agents will follow the instructions, and just pile up all the appointments during the timeslot you set.

Good luck!
