I found this on www.xomba.com hope it helps:

Short legs

To add the illusion of height to shorter legs , the skirt style should be just above the knee . Tapered pants and crotch length jackets are a good choice . Slimming styles without surface pockets , pleats , and decorative hardware or zippers look best .

Do not wear cuffs on your pants . These make the legs look shorter than they are . Buy petite style clothing , as these are made with shorter women in mind . You won't have to sacrifice the stylish look by hemming the pants .

Medium to light colors without large prints are a good choice . Darker colors can be worn in skirts or pants as long as a flattering color and length top or jacket Is chosen .

Wear accessories that flatter the neckline or face as this draws the eye upward and gives the illusion of longer legs .

A simple design shoe is a good choice . Anything with a strap that cuts across the ankle , breaks the leg line and makes the legs look shorter .

Avoid wearing knee length socks as they are not flattering .

Tights and pantyhose in a neutral or light color is a good choice .

I saw this dress on line the other day which might suit you as it has a band just under the bust creating a longer lower body and is all one colour which creates the illusion of length. They say they make to measure so you can adjust to what you like and what suits your body.

see link http://www.cloud9asia.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=63 ... Perhaps Lady Wolverine will have some advice as this is in her area of expertise as a garment maker.

you might also like this one if you like asian inspired designs. Perhaps include a wrap to go with it... http://www.cloud9asia.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=75

As you sound like a pear with broad shoulders:

Avoid spaghetti straps or halter necks.

Avoid clingy or bias-cut skirt/dress. Stay away from tapered skirts. Go for an A-line.

A v-neck takes attention away from the hips.

Stay away from box jackets.

Not forgetting - make sure you're comfy in what you wear too and if you try it on and love it and look good in it and it goes against everything said on here, GO FOR IT!
