Servicing dehumidifiers

ORIGINAL POST

I have a few dehumidifiers which I bought about 6 years ago. They work fine, but I should get them serviced before the season comes. Do you know any reliable places that come pick them up and get them cleaned/serviced with reasonable price? Thank you!

Dont know; but interested to know what it will cost as well. Since the China made ones nowadays are cheap.... Do you have Fortress square ones or what models ?. (i threw mine away but had that old grey square, Fortress one for 10 year, without servicing hehe....).

Pirorin, when I asked Fortress to quote to repair a less than two-year old humidifier, the charge was enough to make it not worth fixing and we bought a new one. However, it seems to me that humidifiers have gone way up in price in the past year or so, so maybe it would be worth finding a repairer. I'll ask around and come back if I hear of anyone.

Mac-010, where are the cheap China-made humidifiers here? The cheapest units I've seen recently have been small ones starting at $1,700. I'd like to get slightly bigger ones that don't cost quite as much, if possible!

Mac-010, any good china-made dehumidifers you know of?

Pirorin and Thames, would be recommend your de-humidifers? and if so, kindly provide brand and model numbers. I have just moved to the Bay area and the place is so damp even paper feels soggy, hence the desperate need of a good (probably heavy-duty?) de-humidifer that would do the job.

I used them - they come, pick up the dehumidifiers for you and then take them away. You can ask them to call you and tell you repair costs - there is a charge for having them come out though - can't remember how much, but for two dehumidifiers I remember paying about $500 (don't hold me to this - could be more or less) for the maintenance. Both of them still run great after that servicing.
