Baby-safe mosquito repellent?

ORIGINAL POST

The mosquitoes are now coming out again, and this time around I have a baby to think about. Anyone know of a baby-safe repellent (cream or spray form), and where can you get it? We use a net on his crib so far, but in the daytime there is the rogue skeeter flying around, ugh. Got bitten 4 times last night in my room, they do love me - hopefully they won't get baby.

Hi there! The mozzies are def out in force here - my bubs has had half a dozen bites already.

I have the aromakids one from B2B too - just we'd not noticed any beasties around the nights she got bitten! Also Doubibou do a Badger balm one and also in a stick form.

STB, what's the Nelsons thing? I haven't found anything I can put on LO once she's been bitten.

Thanks ladies! I'm going to HK this weekend, so I'll definitely stock up. I'm also going to charge up our 'tennis' rackets. Finally zapped a few! Here's to a bite-free night to you...

Back in the USA my pediatrician told me not to use anything on baby's skin until one year old! :-0 But the bug control people came out and gave me advice on how to control in environmnent: 90% of life cycle is on plants / in water, so we vigilantly walked around and got rid of every stagnant water source (including places inside drains and on roof), fogged our outdoor plants and garden to get rid of the ones hiding in foliage. Plugged every crack where they might get into house, and used to keep citronella candles burning near entrances to house almost all the time, to try and drive them away from the doors. There's also the Avon product "Skin So Soft" that doesn't contain deet, but I couldn't stand the smell, so I gave up and started spraying stuff containing deet lightly on baby's clothing, got some that dabs on and just put a few spots here and there to keep them away from hands, cheeks, feet.

Bumps to Babes and Eugene Club have ALL kinds of baby safe insect repellent.

I use Citronella sprays, and patches. Works wonderfully without irritation to my kids.

Another vote for citronella. I have a small bottle which I use to dab on the backs of knees, elbows and behind the ears.

In case anyone would like to try the Avon Skin So Soft Dry Oil Body Spray mentioned in this thread, please do get in touch with me. I bring the product in from the UK for sale in Hong Kong. I also supply the Island Health Medical Centre is Discovery Bay with this product. I have been selling the spray in HK for more than three years and most of my clients buy it to use on their kids.

Thanks

I have tried a lot of mosquito repellent, but the most effective one if Buds for baby mozzie clear lotion. It is Ecocert certified and no preservative, so it is safe for baby. Just need to apply a few on the pulse area, then it works ! I got it from Mother Organic, but I think i have seen it in Bumps to Babe as well.
