I am a recovered bulimic. And it doesn't go away. I was bulimic for a year of my high school and I told no one, but people figured it out - and it was a call for help more than anything.
She needs serious help. Anorexia and bulimia are not about weight and more about control. Is there some recent incidents or crises in your home? Death in the family? Divorce? Anything that may have affected your daughter? Any instability?
Many girls turn to eating disorders to put "control" in a world where they feel they have none. They will control what goes in their body, what comes out and how much to eat.
She needs help...and the sooner the better. Just to warn you, eating disorders are VERY hard to conquer - your love and patience will be incredibly important as well as getting her into a good program and getting good spiritual as well as emotional guidance.
Start getting informed - there are lots of things you shouldn't say, and lots of things you CAN say. You noticed and that in itself is a great thing...now you can do something.

this is a start - it's not totally comprehensive but you should start arming yourself.

I agree the situation as you describe sounds very serious, and I cannot give any advice where anorexia is concerned. I would be seeking professional help immediately! But have you considered another possibility, that perhaps she simply doesn't like the food she is being served? The reason I ask is that one of my friends told me a story about being forced to eat food and spitting it out because she couldn't stand the taste? Cook her favorite foods, make sure there is something at every meal that she thinks is so delicious she won't want to spit it out. Keep meal times happy and make them non-pressured, family social time.

Meiguoren - i think its a bit more serious then that. She may have an illness which needs professional help and whether or not she likes the food wouldnt cause her to spit, puke, or refuse to eat on a consistant basis unless she was either having a problem with her stomach but if that were the case she would tell someone. So in this case she is having a medical issue and needs medical assistance.
Good luck Donacella and let us know how things work out!
