For Moms whose babies already manage to sleep through the night (from 7 to 7) without changing nappies - Can the nappy really absorb so much loo? My son's nappy is soaked with loo every time I change him in the morning (he had his last feed at 11pm the prevous night so got changed by then) I wonder what is going to happen if he sleeps a longer spell without needing to feed in the near future.

hi there,
use the most absorbent nappy you can find in the shops (i swear by pampers premium/active baby) and secure it properly, there shouldn't be any problems. if not, previous threads have discussed this same issue and some advised to use a reusable nappy cover over your usual nappy at night for extra protection.

We have not had a problem, except on rare occassions... but from others on this forum there are two solutions that have been mentioned:
1. Change the nappy at 11pm (even though no feed), and eventually this gets changed to a visit to the toilet.
2. Put a velcro or snap close reusable nappy cover over the disposable.
You can also try different nappies- for example, we use cloth nappies in the daytime (they never have leaked on us) and disposables at night. We started with Huggies for newborn, small and medium, but at medium switched to Pampers Active Fit because they fit him better. A friend did the reverse, so maybe it really makes no difference!! But every baby is different, so you might need to experiment.

i use huggies for daytime but find it absorbent but not great coverage for the bottom. so pampers in feel is better.
we haven't had much accidents either, it was mostly in the early days when he was way tooooooo small at birth for even the smallest nappies! :)

Pampers premium - a size up.
I like Pampers premium - I think they absorb better but feel dryer. younger one still does 7-7 - no accidents in the pampers, although recently we had to buy huggies and we had TWO overspills...

I found the Pampers Easy Up (Bumps 2 Babes)worked best for my daughter and Huggies Goodnights for my son.
I also have a product called SlumberDry which I bought over the internet from Australia. If we do have a leak I just whip off the Slumberdry rather than having to remake the bed overnight.

We used Fitti nappies for our last 2 born here, never had a leaking problem even at night, and quite a bit cheaper than Pampers.

I use the Pampers premium. I don't know if your baby would allow you to do this... what I do is, before I sleep, around 1:00am, I change his diaper. He doesn't wake up when I do it... but if your baby is a light sleeper, you might wake him up during the change, I wouldn't risk it!

Have always used Fitti for my first child. For the second one I have been using Pampers and Fitti.
Agree with Katetam. If you have a problem with leakage (I have rarely had problems with leakage but always felt uncomfortable with the idea of having them sleep with that load for more than 12 hours), then go in for a change just before you go to bed.

We use Huggies ultra absorbent on my son and Pampers Easy Up on top of that as a double protection.

We use Pampers Premium and it leaked whenever my bub poos! We bought Mamy Poko pants and they are really absorbent and so far, no leakage incident. Problem is I can't find them in HK as yet and has been asking my husband to buy a couple of packs each time he returns to Singapore. Am thinking of switching to Pampers Easy Up but they are really expensive.

I totally recommend Mamy Poko nappies for nightuse. I use Pampers premium for day only as I find it is not enough to absorb overnight pee for my daughter who drinks a lot of milk before bed. She's 18 months old. I have also tried the one-size-up idea but pee leaked out even more from the sides as the elastics did not "grip" her thighs enough.
I do buy them from Singapore/Malaysia but recently saw pull-ups being sold in Wellcome. More expensive but worth it as I use one per night (changed bub at 9pm and lasted till 8am) and stop needing to change her at 1am as Katetam did.

We swear by Huggies Ultra Dry - Nappy absorbs all moisture so that baby's bottom stays dry

Well, my baby went through phases. He actually peed alot more before he was 1 years old. He drank more feeds of milk I guess. Now he's on more solid foods, seems like there is LESS pee during the night, still a lot (soaks up 1 diaper) but definitely can last until 7:00am without leaking. I always check at around my bedtime to see if he needs changing. Seems less now... he's 16 months.

have you tried MAMY POKO? This is what my 2 year old daughter uses in the nighttime since she was a little baby.

SEALER!! And cheaper!
Huggies were useless for nights and so was pampers although better than huggies.
I also now have taken to using a disposable plus a cloth nappy ( all in one) over it to triple make sure my babies don't wake up from being too wet, I've had lots of problems with my eldest son, but I guess I should be taking him wees in the night now that he's toilet trained during the day.
BTW - Mammy poko is in Mannings stores here in Hong Kong but I find them costly for the same benefit as sealer.
