Precautions when hiring a driver- advice?

We're planning to hire a driver, it's our first time. Is there anything I have to be aware of before I agree to sign the contract? Any advice from others would be appreciated.


Would you hire a new driver in HK?(even though he has much experience in the Philippines)

I don't have any advice on the contract as we don't have a driver here but with regards to your other question...


In the Philippines, we drive on the left side of the road. I've just gotten my HK driving license recently and I am not at all confident yet in driving on HK roads even with more than 10 years driving experience in the Philippines. A new driver will have to pass written and road tests here which will take a few months. Also a new driver will not know how to get from one place to another yet.


Correct me if I'm wrong though, but I thought Foreign domestic helpers are not allowed to work as drivers. That is what's written on our helper's visa. (... performing of motor vehicle driving duties is prohibited)
