Hi all our cloth nappies are wearing out and we need replacements for our second son. Don't want to spend a fortune as he's already 15 months. Anyone know of a place I can buy cloth nappies in Hong Kong at reasonable prices?

I would buy second hand if they were hardly used also.

A cheaper way is to order online, but still not much difference, it will cost you HK$100 minimum plus shipping.

Check out trading post, there's a kooshies AIO but for infant size.

Well unfortunately there aren't too many options for cloth nappies in HK but even though, there are different prices available according to the type you are looking for

The cheapest would without doubt be the 'flat' ones sold in the wet markets, right after that you have the prefolds for less than 500HKD a whole set.

For used ones, as honeypie said, check the trading post, there are some from time to time.

Otherwise, if you have to buy some new ones, even though that would be an investment for a whole lot, think that you would only need one size and that you would be able to resell them all afterwards!

Hi Doubibou, just ordered from your website, a mix of the pocket bumgenius and the all in one nappies you have, I hope they work well I am nervous that the All in Ones will not have enough absorbancy as my boys are heavy wetters especially at night time. I figure I will probably be using nappies for another year as my first is so slow to toilet trin, he's in undies but it is hit and miss most days and he's 2 yrs and 8 months!!! my youngest is 16 months.

Ha ha... fair play, 4 kids in cloth was some pretty hard core use!!!

I tell my hubby he'll be using our LO's nappies to clean his car in his retirement!!

Hello Mumof2boys

Sorry for this late feedback..

so how is it going?

honestly speaking, the bumkins AIO is not really the one I would recommend for nighttime or heavy wetters - even though I know that some moms are really satisfied with it!

For the bumGenius, you would need to add 1 or 2 boosters on top of the insert. For my toddler, I insert one premium prefold and that's more than enough for the night..

And good luck for the potty training phase!

Saikunga & Spicegal..

All my burp clothes were cloth nappies my mom and aunt used almost 40 years ago ;-)

Hi there,

Try the citistore. They have a set of 6 pieces of baby cloth (about 100 HKdollars). you need to buy some pins (pigeon). It will only cost you less than 20 HKdollars. hope it is useful to u.

Hi Doubibou,

The Bumkins AIO are good for my two year olds who still wears them at night, although I do have to add an extra booster.

And the Bumgenius is really good, I actually add two extra boosters for night use and they'd great and one extra in the nap times.

My 1st son is now potty trained except nights so I'm not sure exactly how we will go about doing that.

Hi, I have a question re: the bumGenius --

Do you mean that you add 2 boosters ON TOP OF the insert that comes with it? I tried it on my 27-month old the other night and it leaked. I only put 1 booster + the insert. ??? Thanks!

Yep Kwis I add two boosters inside with the insert that it comes with and it has been great no leaks.

My boys are both really heavy wetters cause they love drinking lots of water and milk.

If you put the boosters inside the pocket with the insert then it won't leak.

good luck it's such a mission finding good nappies.

They do sell disposable diapers in Beijing, right?

Sparr921, yes they do sell disposable nappies there - pampers and huggies widely available as well as many local (some as good as the others too) brands.

I think a lot of people are hanging to cloth though because of the state of the environment here in China. Plus, it's so easy these days - and couldn't be easier than when it's not even you putting your washing machine on!!!

Hi mumof2boys,

I did put the booster inside the pocket, but even with just 1 booster and 1 insert, it was pretty bulky. My son was walking funny after we put that on; guess he was used to wearing disposables... I'll try the 2 boosters and see if it will leak. Thanks!

Hi Kwis,

Yes they do walk funny....but I only put his nighttime diaper on right before bedtime to maximise absorbancy time for it. He's comfortable and seems not to have any trouble sleeping with it so bulky.

It is cheaper in the long run to use good quality cloth diapers and they make them so well now you can adapt them to your childs needs, by adding extra layers for sleep time and just using one layer for daytime.

We love cloth and would never go back to using disposable. when we have we feel guilty about how much rubbish we are throwing out knowing it will take thousands of years for just one of those nappies to break down.

And it's great having a helper to do the laundry although I had no trouble doing it myself as it is just once a day and you get into the routine of it.
