Changing milk powder

I breastfed my baby since birth, topping up with formula. However into his 3rd week, he began to suffer from stomach pain after each feed and also poohing several times a day, the max 7 times. Doctor advised was to go off breast milk and formula and switched into lactose free. (recommeded O LAC).

He has been on lactose free for 7 weeks now. Condition improved, abnormal poohing stopped. Doctor advised us to put him back on his formula. I did that, today is the third day off the lactose free milk powder.

His poohed 3 times today, all soft and dark coloured. I am worried. He was alright the first two days, but had alot of gas.

Is the above a normal situation during change of milk powder?

After 6months on cow's milk (enfamil) we changed to soy based formula on dr's advice. My daughter went from pooing once every 3-4 days (soft poo) to pooing every day but dry pellets (which made her strain even more and teary). After a week on soy formula (which made her constipate) i told the doctor i wanted her to go back on to cow's milk (NAN HA1) which we have done for 2 days, so far she has pooed once and its still hard. Time will tell if this change in formula will affect my baby's poo. I suppose a change in milk formula's does affect bowel movement depending on formula ingredients. My daughter has a lot of gas too (that's why we changed to soy milk (lactose & sucrose free) but now we've gone back to cow's milk (i think soft poo is better than pellets which caused her discomfort and red bum). It is worrying about changing formula I hope she will improve. If anyone else has had any similar experience it would be good to hear of it.
