My husband and I are planning a trip to Macau on Thursday. What is the best way to get there from Guangzhou? We are going to Hong Kong afterwards, so we will be taking the train back. I know that there is a bus (don't know where/when it leaves), but is there any other way to get there?

The Kee Kwan Motor Road Co. has an air-conditioned bus service between Macau and major cities in Guangdong Province from 0715 to 2130H. Its about Y100 each pax.

Then from Macau to Hong Kong is on a fast ferry to either Shuntak Center (Hong Kong side) or China Ferry Terminal (Kowloon side). Cost is about HK$150 each pax

I haven't called Kee Kwan and don't know where they leave from. Depending on where you live, I know of express buses that leave from China Hotel, Landmark Canton Hotel next to Haizhu Square, and Garden Hotel. Maybe Ramada and some other places, too. For some reason, I think they leave about every hour and cost about 80 RMB, but not positive. If you don't have a Chinese speaking friend who can find out, I suggest call the concierge at the hotel closest to you and ask them. If you are comfortable with speaking Chinese, just about any of the city's long distance bus stations will have regular buses.

We travelled to Macau from Guangzhou by bus, from Landmark Canton Hotel, think it costs us 70 or 80RMB.

We slept most of the way until we reached Zhuhai with nice ocean view and interesting rocks.

Then changed to a local bus(included in the fare) from the border to your final destination, they have a lists of stops like Sands hotel.

BTW, the buffet in Sands is money worth.

I thought I would update my own post just for other's info...We took a bus from tbe Tianhe Hotel. (It cost 60 rmb per person.) It was so much nicer than I thought it would be! Airconditioned bus with leather seats...very clean! They even showed a movie and had an attendant that gave out water. It was a very nice way to travel. In Macau I have to give a huge reccomendation to the dinner buffet at the Sands Hotel. It was extremely worth the money!

FYI--I might think twice about staying at the Hotel Taipa (Best Western) again. Since we had booked our rate in US dollars, they really tried to get us with the exchange rate. The bed was as hard as sleeping on a piece of wood (Yes, I know most people in this area like extremely firm beds...) We were also woken up both nights by very noisy neighbors--the walls seemed to be rather thin.

Anyway, thanks so much for all of your input. (Hope this can maybe help someone else too!)
