Where can I find jeans that are NOT low-cut, and have space for a bigger behind? I'm not fat, US size 10, just don't fit into what is trendy now.

try Indigo on Staunton street, they have a good selection, also another shop, which sorry to be vague, as I cannot remember the name of it, its CWBay, if you were to cross from Sogo, to Times square, past Watsons and take first street on left, its on the next corner, on right, upstairs they too have a large selection. good luck !

Ah, the one thing (almost) every woman wants to hide - the junk in the trunk.
I'm no fashion expert, but I think that when it comes to jeans (and all articles of clothing), it's not a must for one to wear the latest pair from this season's runway. The number one and only rule when dressing yourself is to find clothes that flatter your unique body, while hiding all the "wobbly bits" you're less than happy about. As long as you're wearing clothes that create a balanced, well-proportioned look that gives you a nice shape where everything is in the right place, you're pretty much set. Trends come and go, but the neverchanging fact is that we all want to look good, right? :)
Back to your question, I see that you're a bit self-conscious about your behind, so when you're shopping for jeans let's look for some mid-rise ones that are slightly on the lower side in order to fit around the widest part of your body, without creating love handles.
In terms of the cut of the jean, let's do a straight leg (works extra well if you're petite) or a trouser leg (always a good choice because you can dress it up with a feminine top if you want to). These two cuts generally fall down from your hips, which will give you a longer-looking leg line.
The one cut that you need to stay away from when is the boot-cut. It will only highlight the thickness of your thigh in relation to your knee, which I'm sure is not what you want.
There are actually plenty of brands that you can try out when looking for your perfect denim that will flatter your body shape. Just to name a few that are available in HK: Diesel, CK, Gap, Banana Republic, Levi's.
Happy shopping and good luck finding the jeans of your dreams. It might take some time but once you've found them, they'll make a GREAT investment. Just like shoes!

I hear that French Connection do the best jean and trouser cut to flatter ANY womans behind. This was taken from a story on BBC World not long back.

I have 'womanly' thighs and feel quite left out from this, or last season's jeans craze-skinny jeans which i cannot wear without highlighting the wrong things.
Currenty wearing square cut jeans, straight leg from levi's which is supposed to minimise one's hips.

Skinny jeans aren't my style either. Bought just one pair and wore it max 3x and it's stored deep in the wardrobe now..
The Seven outlet in Citygate has some sizes/styles for us "unskinnies"..

I bought a pair of Gap Long and Lean and they really flattering. BarefootChrissey, you mention Gap in your message, I thought Gap was no longer available here (I got mine in the US)? does anyone know where you can get GAP jeans in HK, is there an outlet that sells them?

I'd suggest Marks & Spencer.
You gotta look and try them on. I got many good things from there in the past and no one could guess they're from M&S!

balzac> I actually know a few women who share the same problem as you, so don't feel left out!
I've come to notice that when women have larger thighs they usually end up buying jeans one size too big, which can cause gapping at the waist. Hopefully you're not guilty as charged but even if you are, you can fix this by wearing fuller jeans with a bootleg or flare style. Your choice of a straight-leg jean is also very smart - it's the kind of cut that never goes out of style.

In Hong Kong, I buy my jeans and trousers at Giordano or Bossini. Actually, I usually have a lot of success at Giordano. I have a narrow waste but wider hips, full thighs and a full butt. In addition, my legs aren't super long.
The nice thing is that these stores usually offer free alteration. So, if I find a pair of jeans that fits but is a little too long in the legs, I can have them altered so they look good on me.
I feel your pain, though about looking for jeans in Hong Kong! Hope you find a few good pairs!
