I've just arrived here in HK and am keen to meet others in the expat community. I've moved over with work from the UK and am based in our parent company's office where all the staff are Chinese. I'm not especially shy, but was wondering if there were any clubs or similar which I could join where I could meet other people, rather than just going out and about (on my own) to bars etc. and introducing myself!! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks,

Hi Tidings 2, and thanks for the quick reply! I'm 32 and will be based here for 2 years (at least, would be very surprised if they dont extend it), so keen to meet anyone vaguely within that bracket.. 25 to 45 and beyond. etc.. Currently in a serviced apartment near the office in TST, but hoping to rent a place on the island within the next month.

Good questions - I'm in the same boat. Just arrived and settling in but nice to have someone to pal up with and head out for a meal, a few drinks and a laugh. I'm up for it - send me message if you like and we can meet up..

Hey guys, thanks so much for the quick and hospitable replies! I should probably say a bit more about myself! My name's Matt (am I allowed to use my real name), and I've arrived here from Glasgow in Scotland. Not a stranger to HK, but a first time resident, currently in a serviced apartment in TST, but planning to move to central in the next few weeks! My job is sales manager for Asia for a Scotch whisky company (if anyone likes a drink), and sports wise I like to play a bit of squash! God, I sound like I'm on a dating site!!! 5 foot 9, GSOH.. he he..

he he, Thanks Cara, I spend most of my working life working through inadequate translators, so would like to think my prose is just about understandable!! On a sidenote, part of the reason I left Glasgow was 'cause I couldn't understand half of what the locals were saying! As for the half I could understand!!!

I am sure you will do fine, especially if you like a drink. The locals here will love your accent and i am sure you like a good time and hong kong has many of them!!!

Get in touch with Kevin at The Canny Man (kevin@thecannyman.com) in WanChai. Its a Whisky Bar, and not only is he a pretty good guy who will help you meet some other folks with a similar accent, he might be able to provide an outlet for some sales of your product.

I do know of a few Kevin's back home, but it's not necessarily a bad thing!! He he.. Thanks everyone for the replies! To avoid me constantly replying to my own message and making myself look more popular than I am, could someone tell me how to PM people on the site who have replied to me? Do I need to subscribe? Cheers,
