We are potentially moving to HK and have cats, just wondering if you can have them in leased apartments in HK.

Some buildings allow you to keep pets. Some buildings forbid it.

You need to read the terms of your lease carefully before signing it.

My building forbids pets without all sorts of registration procedures, but half the residents have cats and nobody cares. The greater potential issues are with dogs. Bring tabbies along with you, and check for import restrictions if any. At these rents, few owners are going to reject you because you have a cat!

I brought my 2 cats from Canada to our NO pets building. The Management lady knew and said it is fine, as long as they don't bother other people. Most are worried about dogs. Our friends bought a flat and there are no pets allowed........... they have 3 cats!!! Seems it is more dogs they are concerned about

It is mostly dogs they're concerned about, but there are some places that are strict about no pets. When you're looking for an apartment, liami, make sure you tell the agent that you have cats, make sure they ask at the management office, and have it written into the Tenancy Agreement that you can keep cats on the premises.

you don't usually take cats for a walk so your neighbors wouldn't know if you even had one as they are usually at home pets. same as fish pets..

dogs however are more visible and you can hear them bark. people are generally and usually afraid of dogs here and if they see one, it makes them scared, wary and jumpy.
