Hiya - Just landed in from Oz and am loving the place already but wanted to know what's a good way/place to meet up with people like me who have just arrived. I've no trouble exploring but it's more fun with someone else. Also I'm trying to set up broadbank - I'm finding wireless to be patchy, WHat's the best way to get Internet access wireless or cable?? Is this two posts??

Hello
My suggestion would be to get out in LKF, that is where you find most westerners. Also sport clubs are a great place for meeting others. You might find depending on what your job is that you will make loads of friends through work anyway. Lots of work places set your life up for you here anyway. It is an alright place for meeting people , most westerners are quite friendly and if it is loacal ladies you are chasing then you will be just fine!!
Enjoy

PCCW do a package of broadband and NOW broadband television. There are others too, that's just the one I'm familiar with.

The YWCA organises a course for people who are new in HK. The course is called 'At home'. You can find the info on their site www.esmd.ywca.org.hk
I followed the 'At home' course myself last month.
Good luck !

Thanks Guys for your advice - will check this stuff out. I arrived during the rugby 7's and landed in the middle of LKF sunday night - what a buzz- felt out of place becuase i didn't have a costume, but partied on anyway.

Thanks Dick. I'm gathering information as we speak but it's all a bit confusing so am trawling through the information - maybe too much research can be a bad thing!!

Aussie association is a social group, with lots of activities.
www.ozhongkong.com
They have a monthly mag which lists things to do. They organise Grand Final days, Melb Cup days and their annual Ball is on in June - probably a good place to meet people?
If you're into Aussie Rules there is a local club here that plays - the Dragons I think - there is a link on the Oz assoc website.
