Hi. I recently got a job offer from another company here in Hong Kong.
I understand that to proceed with employment, I would need to secure a new work visa, since the one I have now is employer specific.
I'd like to know:
- How long will the application process take
- Who should process the application: me or the new employer
- What are the requirements (do I have to submit new documents, or will immigration use the previous docs I've submitted)
- Do I need to exit HK while the application is being processed
Hope to hear from you guys. Thank you.

1) ?
2) The new employer should apply for the new visa.
3) I'm fairly sure you have to submit completely new documents.
4) Don't think so.
Good luck!

Thanks TC and Briandwest!
One more question: I've been here for more than a year now and would like to earn permanent residency. Will my one year of stay be counted or I will have to start from scratch to complete the 7 years of continuous stay?

Good info. When one submits docs for the permanent ID; what is needed ?. Better save early :)
Receipts showing tax paid enough ?, passports with work visa, or what is needed ?.

Mac, tax records, pass port showing first work permit visa and employment contracts. Once you have done 7 years without leaving HK (except for holidays) its a pretty straight forward process.

Hi I just want to give you an update.
It's been more than two weeks and I'm still waiting for my new visa. Don't know what's taking it so long.
Are there cases in the past where transfer visa applications like this got denied?
I'm already a bit worried because I might end up jobless if I don't receive it soon.
