To the best of my knwoledge there are three stores in Hong Kong that specialize in American Comics (Marvel, DC, Darkhorse, Image, Archie, etc). While they do not bring in all the 1000's of titles released each month they can order anything from Previews Magazine for you (Previews is the trade publication that list every comic being released by every publisher each month so if it is in print they can get it for you).

The two best shops are in CausewayBay and happen to be in the same building. They are:

Metro Comics

Shop 112, Causeway Bay Shopping Centre,

15-23 Sugar Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

http://www.metrocomics.com

852-2895-1162

and

Clark's Comics & Novelties

Shop 202, 205 & 207, 2/Fl Causeway Bay Centre

15-23 Sugar Street, Hong Kong

852-2890-7718

I buy from both of the above two shops although I prefer Metro. (I happen to have all there details as I have receits from each of them in my wallet right now).

There is also another store that is located in Mong Kok. It tends to be more expensive and the staff are less knowledgable and less polite.

It is located in the basement of the Sino Centre which is located at 582-592 Nathan Road, Kowloon.

Hope this helps.

Claire:

I was unaware that there was a US Comic Book shop on Hak Po Street. I will have to try and find it. Do you have the address or building name that the shop is in?

I am surprised at how few places sell American comics here in Hong Kong when cities like Singapore, Manila and Tokyo all have great shops (although the big shop in Shibuya is rather pricey). I often find it cheapest just to buy online from Amazon, Tales of Wonder, Things from Another Universe or Mile High Comics. For more expensive old books comiclink.com can be great but they charge a 3% commission fee on purchases and their cheapest shipping option in US$50 for three books.
