Barring someone from your emails

I guess it would depend on the technique used.

If you somehow set things up so your ISP's (Internet Service Provider's) server rejected the message, the sender should be notified.

If you set up a filter in your e-mail program that sent a sender's e-mails directly to trash without reading it, probably the only thing the sender would receive, if anything, would be a delivery receipt (if the sender requests that when sending the msg - if not, the sender should not receive anything).

If you delete an e-mail without reading it however it would depend on e-mail systems of the ISPs and the programs being used. There is a certain office that I communicate with by e-mail. If the recipients of my messages from that office delete a message without opening it I get a return message that it was deleted without opening, naming the account that deleted it. I am using Thunderbird as my e-mail client. I don't know why that happens, but it happens with only this specific office; regardless of who deletes my message unread in that office, I get a notice.

If it is really important, you could always block a friend's e-mail and ask them to send you a msg and tell you what happens - keeping in mind that the result may vary with ISPs.

Interesting it is! I am sure that the folks in that office would do something to "correct" the situation if they knew this occurred. I however am not telling them.

Do a "vacation response" to the one/s who you want to avoid. Copy and paste a real error message so it looks right and then send it......
