Is it best through Bangkok? Or even on boat from Phuket?
2 adults + 1 child. Any advice for a holiday hungry family.

Are you planning to go Krabi or Phi Phi?
Several airlines ( eg. Thai, Dragon Air, Orient Thai & Air Asia).
The last 2 are budget airlines, so you may be able to get mixed flight connections which may be cheaper.
I had used only Air Asia routing (Bangkok - Krabi).
