Hello, I don't why it took me so long to figure this out! But it occurred to me that I could make my own breakfast cereal and not have to feed my kids expensive garbage in the morning. They love cereal and I limit it to only a few times a week but I still feel guilty because it's no different than feeding candy to kids for breakfast. As well, with 4 kids, the cereal box empties out in two mornings.
I did a search on the net and found lots of recipes. Can I give the link? www.allrecipes.com
I would like some more recipes but...
My MAIN question is where can I buy the ingredients in HK? Things like rolled oats, wheat germ, granola etc. etc. Pecans and walnuts in BULK.
I don't mind spending the money to make quality food but I also don't want to break the bank.
Is this going to be impossible in HK?

rolled oats - I've always seen at parknshop and whatnot. Easy enough. Wheat germ the same.
The bulk nuts - you might try gateway in sheungwan = sort of the "costco" of HK - they have lots of bulksize randomness there.

In Wanchai market, there's a corner stall where I buy almonds, walnuts, pistachios and pine nuts by the kg. A lot cheaper than the generic ones sold in packs in P&S. And never encountered stale nuts too

Quilting Mommy,
I always make my own cereal and am addicted to the following:
500 g coarse oatflakes
200 g sunflower seeds
100 g pumpkin sees
100 g
mix with
6 tablespoons sunflower oil
6 tablespoons honey
Bake at 180 degrees for 20 minutes. Please stir/loosen the cereal with a fork inbetween.
I buy all ingredients at City Super but should be available in any well stocked supermarket.
