booster seat

I need one handy for taking out to feed baby in restaurants. But baby is less than 6 months so would need a little bit of support. The brands I've been looking at are Safety 1st or First Years. The former is made of hard plastic which may be less comfortable. The latter is made of vinyl which is softer but would make cleaning more difficult. Any other suggestions?

hmmm...if your baby is less than 6 months and not too steady, honestly, even a highchair might be an issue, let alone those booster seats which offer less support than a highchair. we used the bouncy chair when we introduced solids at 5 months before using a highchair and only bought a booster seat at about 10 months when we go to places that we know will not have highchairs.

so my advice is to wait awhile and use your pram until your baby is sitting well on a highchair before you consider the booster seat.

but to answer your question, we have the first years one (which packs up like a mini briefcase). it works great for us as it is so portable, fits into my bag. but some of my friends have seat covers (don't know the brands) that you slot onto the chairs and your baby slids into the pouch. but that will require your baby to be evn more steady but it packs up very nicely as it is eseentially a piece of cloth.

hope this helps!

WM - your advice definitely is my concern too. I need to know whether my baby can really sit well in a booster seat. Otherwise it'll end up be a waste of money.

We have a Peg Perego Prima Pappa (Dondolino) high chair which is suitable from 4+ months. There is a layer of cushion as extra support for babies under 6 months. But whenever baby sits in there, he struggles coz he sweats so much in there even when the air-con is on. It makes feeding more difficult. So that's another reason of getting a booster seat hoping it's a answer to this.

any chance that the shop you want to buy the seat from will let you try it out before purchase?

like i said, i used the bouncy chair in the beginning. so if you don't have one, perhaps your pram is the best thing to feed baby in for now - if you are concerned about mess (because there will be for sure), perhaps line the pram with a cloth first, if not i hope your pram has a removable seat cover for washing!
