In an emergency situation, there is the Government Flying Service which operates a 24-hour air ambulance - so you could give birth in the helicopter! It is based at the airport so not too far away. BTW, the helicopters do have medical personnel on board. No idea of cost.

Just dont worry, I had the exact experience as you. I live in DB and delivered my first baby on 20/11 at QMH. My case was that, my water broke at the midnight at about 2am of 18/11 (my due date was 28/11) and then I told my hub and packed my things. I checked the ferry schedule and called the hire car (Now, I think taking a bus is safer as the hire car just pick you up at the time to allow you catching the ferry. No difference as to taking a bus). My hub call the office of pier and informed that my water was broken and had to go to QMH. Then the staff there asked whether we need an ambulance stand by at the pier (we declined their favour as we think it will be fine) When we once arrived the DB pier to take the 2:50 a.m. ferry, we made sure the staff there know my situation and asked them if the ferry can go faster. They were really good and we were at the Central pier within 20 mins. Then we take the taxi direct to QMH. Less than a hour I can arrive the hospital from my water was broken. The whole experience was really good.

I also have the same question as you before I delivered my baby, but I got lots of assurance and support from the DB moms telling me I will be fine. I had also once considering moving to the HK side for a month before delivery, but I guess the most comfortable way for you and the baby is staying at your own until it is the time.

Of course, if you have any difficulties in your pregnancy, simply called the ambulance to come to DB and make sure they take to Queen Mary but not Queen Margaret which is the nearing hospital to DB.

Wish you and your baby all the best!!
