We're doing a 7-day sailing holiday with friends in Dubrovnik and are thinking about staying an additional 5 days on our own. Does anyone know whether (1) it's worth it, (2) 5 days is too long? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Definitely worth it!! went with a group of 6 back in 04, stayed in Dubrovnik about 4 days...Could have stayed another 4 months easily... The place is relaxing and hospitable..not to mention the seafood if you're a fan....Also couple islands off the coast you can easily access if you have a boat otherwise there are regular ferry services from the Port at Dubrovnik...Mljet is the only name that comes to mind now, but many others. Mljet was small, but awesome...hired bikes and rode round the island in a day...If you get a chance, hop on an overnight bus and head up to Split (7 hours from memory) Also worth the trip. let me know if there's a spare bunk on the boat...aaaahhh..the memories.....

The Island of Korcula is also lovely. The town of Korcula on the northen tip of the island is also a 'walled city', smaller version of Dubrovnik. Vela Luka is the town on the southern tip of the island. Both places are accessible via ferry from Dubrovnik or Split. Well worth the visit.

In fact all the islands between Dubrovnik and Split are beautiful. People very friendly and hospitable.

Definitely spend the extra 5 days in the area. You will love it.
