Picky Eater - Favourite Foods

ORIGINAL POST

According to the books, I have a typical toddler on my hands in terms of eating. Not the best eater in the past but was always ok when trying new foods.

Now she is 13months and has suddenly reduced her food intake by half. She isnt as keen to try new foods and even her favourites are being rejected.

Can you help?

What are your LO's favourite recipes/food items?

Ive run out of ideas!

I am offering lots of finger food and when eating she still lets me spoon feed her. At the moment she just plays with the finger food and wont even let me put it near her mouth.

Desperate to try and get past this phase....!

13 months - mine is 13 months now too.

after 1, the food intake can reduce.

my kid too is now more discerning about his food - tuna pasta is no longer the fav that it used to be.

buy a couple of cookbooks and i find eating with them sort of helps - food always looks more attractive when it is not on their plate!

Hi, definitely eat with with your little person. Who likes to eat alone? We all learn by copying. Yum this tastes good.

Maybe... don't sweat it? He will definitely eat when he is hungry.

We tried to avoid providing one dinner and then offering an alternative if it wasn't eaten, this we thought would set ourselves up. When introducing new foods we offered one per mealtime, to give him chance to taste it. (Example, a piece of uncooked tomato, or olives, or mango, or vegetarian sausages - a great snack.)

This too is a phase, be kind but firm. You are doing a great job.

That’s normal toddler behaviour….My intention is not to take over this thread with advertising but you might be interested in knowing that I am teaching a course on healthy cooking for toddlers at the YWCA (English members department) in June. I will demonstrate some healthy recipes from different regions using fresh ingredients. The lack of time factor is usually the dilemma for mums, the recipes are quick and can be enjoyed by all the family. Toddlers tend to be picky; hence we will discuss tips and tricks for picky eaters. All recipes for both the courses will be based on the main nutritional elements that constitute good health.

I am a mother of two and a passionate cook. My experience comes from my older daughter of three years who can be a very fussy eater, therefore constantly providing inspiration to make food interesting and tasty with sound nutritional principles

Have a look at this website or if you have any questions you can send me a PM.
