Importing and exporting our Pets

We plan to move to Hong Kong later this year as my husband will be working there. We have a dog and a cat,who have Uk Pets passport. At the end of my husbands contract in 3yrs, we plan to move to Spain to both retire. Does anybody know what requirements the Spanish make for bringing pets from Hong Kong, Will Spain require any quarantine? We hope to live in Discovery bay whilst in Hong Kong, and don't intend taking the pets off the Island. Also ia there good vets and grooming parlours in Disco bay?

It seems silly worrying about these things now,but my pets mean a lot to us and I'd rather know what will happen. Thanks Susie1

i would google spain quarantine. it won't matter that your dogs are just on DB, any customs will consider them a part of Hk. unfortanately HK has not rid itself of diseases such as distemper and rabies so some quarantine may be in order for your animals when you leave. There is no quaratine into HK, its an easy process and just includes paperwork and paying money - something you will get very used to! Look up the AFCD department who will issue your import permit for yoru animals - they also may have info on exporting animals.

I had my senior dog brought in by George of International Pet Travel. He was very professional and helpful. I am sure he can definitely help you. He even gave me the number of the agent in my home country to arrange for the export of my dog.

We used Mark at Wish You Were Here to import our dog from Australia. It's run by an English couple and we were very happy with the import. If you email them about your query they should be able to help.
