Just want to give a recommendation for Philip Chung who I found on another thread on this website. We have just had the curtains done in our flat by his company. He brought the fabrics for us to choose here, lots of choice including blackout, I found this much more useful than trying to guess if the fabric would go with my wallpaper whilst stood in a shop.
They were then made and fitted in just over a week. The curtain rails that were already up were re-used too so no extra cost there. Plus if you mention this website you get 10% off if you spend over $4000 and 5% off if under. For our blackout 4 sets of curtains which took 35yds of fabric to make cost $3,750.
Contact Philip Chung 2421 5791 info@newconcord.com.hk he is very helpful and not at all pushy.

That's helpful as I need to have curtains made, but it's often exhorbitant! Was it 35 yards of blackout and also 35 yds of fabric for that price?

No it was 35yds of blackout material it is a 3in1 material that blocks out light and heat and comes in a variety of different colours and patterns. He also had normal material samples too which you would then need to have the blackout lining sewn in to get the same effect. We just preferred the all in one samples and it means the curtains are much lighter.

I will second the Phil recommendation. Over the last ten weeks during which we have set up home in Hong Kong he was the most professional and knowledgeable tradesman we have dealt with.

Hi we already had rails up and he tries to make use of those wherever possible! The price however included hanging and if the rails/cords needed replacing (they didn't in our case) he would bill us for them separately.

My quote included fixtures, curtains and fitting. Phil visited me to take the measurement and determine the exact requirements when it comes to hanging and the fixtures required.

I dont want the whole house done - just a couple of rooms. Will he come out for a small job? Do you know if he can alter existing curtains??

HKParkview2007 - sounds like you do need blackout have heard Ikea do curtains but don't know any details other than you can have them made and buy them off the shelf. The beauty of Phil is it's all done in your home and you don't need to worry about getting the measurements wrong.
Shahirakk - Can't answer your questions am afraid why don't you just call him he's friendly and doesn't give the hard sell even if he comes out and measures up etc he still lets you make the decision about hiring him.

I am in need of curtains, etc. as we are moving to a new village house. May I ask how large were your windows? I have 17 windows plus 6 large sliding glass doors to cover!

Philip Chung was really good - came out to quote on installing blinds and he gave advice on some curtains which I had made up in Shenzhen and how we could resurrect them. Really good guy
