Hi I am a holder of a dependent visa (husband has valid work permit, both Malaysians). Can I work? Are there different types od dependent visas and are there restrictions to the no. of hours I can work? eg part time ok but not full time?

There may be a restriction on a dependent's visa regarding work, but this will be a "Employment is not permitted" one. Have a look at the stamp in your passport. If it doesn't say that then you can work, part time, full time.

And if the visa was issued before mid-2006 when the general restriction on DV-holders from working was lifted all you need to do is go to the Immigration Department to have the restriction removed. It is a simple and quick process. Generally since mid-2006 DV-holders are allowed to work without having their own employment visa, but I think it's still against the law to do so if you haven't had the restriction removed from your own visa.
