Mine is now 5 months old. We are planning to go to Singapore or Malaysia for travel. Anything I should be aware of? Actually I am quite worried whether the water there is suitable for my baby (he is on formula-fed and started having solid) Heard that some parents will bring their own distilled water, but I dont want to pack all my house to travel.

You can easily buy mineral or distilled water everyone at the convenient store and supermarket. Spore & Msia are develop country not like China. Don't worry. The important stuff you need to bring along is the themometer, name of the medicine that your baby use to take (fever, cold, ...) in case, favourite snack (during flight), blanket/toy/pillow which could calm your baby when your baby ear is hurt during the take off/landing.

I should be more particular to my worry. Can the restaurant there offered boiling water for me to prepare the milk or cereal? Otherwise, I may have to carry a bigggg "thermos" of water.

I'm not a frequent visitor to Malaysia, but Singapore is a dream with children. You can get way more stuff there than in HK. Plenty of decent supermarkets with all brands of water etc. You may want to bring your own formula powder in case that's not available there. I've found all hotel staff to be extremely helpful in any request I've had. The waiters at breakfast used to offer to make up little snacks in lunchboxes for the children. The fact that its so flat makes walking with a stroller a real breeze! Enjoy!

no worries about singapore - boiled tap water is good enough for formula.
try supermarkets such as cold storage/ntuc fairprice/carrefour for fresh fruits and jar food brands such as gerbers, heinz (organic ones too), earth's best, etc. you can get hipp organic from brown rice paradise at tanglin mall.
pampers and what not easily available too.
