Due to issues of spamming we will no longer be allowing any questions about hair care on the forums. When they come up they will be immediately deleted with no warnings or reasons issued

Sorry to hear that. It is because of this website that I found my brilliant hairdresser and found great information relating to hair.

I think if people do a search on this site, they will find years and years of the same questions over and over and it is still current.

Um, and correct me if i'm wrong, but Ed may have pulled the thread because the 'spamming' he talks about was maybe the lovely Douglas and D-Man getting in on every hair thread.

This isn't meant nastily just wondering?

We had no problem with hair dressers answering the questions - we have problems with anyone who seeds the forum then self-recommends...

Totty, in face the threads were deleted due to individuals on this site with multiple handles who constanly badger the threads. Apparently at least one of these people was reported thus the ban. It is offensive that you would try and put the blame on people who are making the effort to hel answer the problems and questions real people have.

So yes you stand corredted.

Seeding a forum is when "someone" joins up to ask questions on behalf of, say a salon, and then the owners of said salon can give answers to keep their name(s) in the limelight.

It seemed to happen here on a daily basis. It was so so obvious.

We'll not name any salon that was doing this however in the interest of maintaining the credibility of the forum we are left with no choice but to restrict the topic...

This is really too bad because some of the salon operators have been putting valuable contributions on this forum (without seeding the questions...)

I will revisit this in June to see if there is a way that we can 100% eliminate the spam - cant do anything about this right now because our guys are pedal to the medal with rolling out our new design and replacing this old clunker of a web site. Re-launch date will be in May.

Ah but Douglas this now gives you a great 'opportunty' to promote your own Beauty Forum on your new site doesn't it. Now what's it called again?

My god everyone is so touchy.

Douglas i do know you, you've had the pleasure of cutting and colouring my hair a few times, and why are my previous comments taken so personally?

I merely wrote that it was a perfect opportunity to get people to use your new website becuase so many of the users used to like you and D-Man's input.

No issue just trying to promote the new beauty forum that you'll have a hand in.

Totty everyone may be a little less touchy if you input replies that are a little less abrupt and contain less personal criticism. Perhaps that is why people are taking your replies personally!

In defence to Douglas and D-Man, they run very successful businesses in this very competitive town and they have every right to try and promote the great services they provide. If you use their services why are you coming down so hard on these two professionals who are taking their own time out of their day to provide quality advice to people on this site???

Douglas and D-Man thanks for all your help. Hopefully Ed will reconsider in June and we can enjoy hearing all your wonderful advice again in the near future.

First reply 'the lovely Douglas and D-Man' and 'isn't meant nastily'. Can't see that as being personal criticism.

Second reply 'but Douglas this gives you an opportunity to promote your new beauty forum', not personal criticism actually helping promote a new beauty forum.

Third reply - 'Douglas i do know you, you've had the pleasure of cutting and colouring my hair a few times, and why are my previous comments taken so personally? I merely wrote that it was a perfect opportunity to get people to use your new website becuase so many of the users used to like you and D-Man's input. No issue just trying to promote the new beauty forum that you'll have a hand in'

Finally apologies if you think i'm abrupt, i'm not. I have something to write. i'll write it without fluffing around. And once again, everyone calm down, no-ones out to criticise anyone, this forum is how i found Douglas in the first place so i'm hardly gonna slag him off am i?

Now deep breaths........
