Sitting out on the balcony up here in shanghai (coffee... no Molsons) watching New Jersey vs Ottawa live.
If you want to tune into the games on your computer do this:
Open: http://www.freeproxy.ca/
After http: type in cbc.ca and hit enter
On that page that comes up refer to CBC Television on the right hand side about 5 inches from the top - click Stanley Cup
On the page that comes up scroll down a bit more than halfway till you see Hockey Night Online - click the play button
Scroll down that page and you will see the games underway/archived - click the game you want to view
It should automatically launch your video player but if it doesnt just copy the url for the game and past it into your media player - here's the current game url (cant seem to get the archived games working - anyone know how?)
And now as a Canuck abroad, your life is now complete!!!

Major League Baseball have a similar service - I believe the NFL will start offering this in the upcoming season.
No doubt other leagues in other sports around the world will soon follow.

Does it offer "regular" Canadian tv programs?
Since TVU stopped airing nbc cbs and abc no more US tv.

You can only pick up CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) programs... similar to BBC style programming (other than hockey and news nothing earth shattering is available)

Thanks timklip. Not too concerned about credit, but I think the point may have been that it was basically information taken from another thread, implying it was something new:)
Ed,
Archived games working fine in Ottawa. I haven't tried through a proxy, though it should work I would think. Are you not getting a connection at all, or just getting the cbc splash screen advertising the game?
It appears the archived games might be the cbc raw feed being sent to affiliate stations. The spalsh screen appears before the game and during what are probably commercial breaks. I checked Sens game 2 archive, and you get the spalsh screen for about 5 minutes, then the pregame starts, followed by the game and post-game show, for a total of 4.5 hours. You can of course either allow the splash screen to play, or move the slider bar ahead a few minutes to get past the splash screen.
