Anyone have same problem as mine? my baby is a dutch nationality, although he was born in Hong Kong, we want him to get the dutch culture and other things, but I can't find any Dutch schools here, nursery or whatsoever.

I am talking about this with my hubby, and he said maybe we can try German-swiss school. Its not the same eh?

Hi there, I am in the same situation, sort of- my baby is only 5 months old, but I am thinking ahead. My husband and I recently chatted to a guy in Discovery Bay who is Dutch. He said that his young kids go to an afterschool- type program to learn Dutch. So, maybe you could contact one of the international schools in DB to find contact details. Or you could put a posting on a Discovery Bay forum. I haven't a lot of luck with it in the past, but have you tried the Dutch consulate here in HK also? Good luck!

After the kindergarten school i will put them in a international school.

A few years a go they got a Dutch school. When i want to find out more about it.. the website was suddenly gone..

Can't help you on the cultural side but Bradbury School(ESF)has quite a few Dutch kids now (as well as one Dutch speaking teacher) and they have settled in very well!

I have heard from a Dutch friend that Hong Lock Yeun (sp?) offers Dutch as an elective. There are lots of Dutch people in that area as well.

emk, I know Hong Luk Yuen have a dutch community, but we are very very far from there, we live at the South Side of Hong Kong.

i also heard about DB, a friend told me that there is a Dutch teacher there, but I was trying to look for a normal Dutch school.

I think if we can't find one ESF is our other option.

kilwinning, did you get contact with that person in DB? if so can you please give me the info? Thank you very much.

Sorry Abby, We didn't get the guy's contact details. I guess my husband and I just assumed that we would somehow find out the details when the time came. Sorry I can't be more help. Sounds like EMK is guiding you in the right direction.

Hi,

Maybe a bit late but still..

I am actually surprised that you cannot find any information. There is large Dutch community in HK with a Dutch Association organizing all kinds of things for both adults & kids. You can just contact the Dutch consulate and ask for their contact details. The 'Dutch school' also provide after school classes on HK island.
