do you mean items in the bag or recommendations for a bag?
i used to plain black messenger bag but it strained my shoulders too much. so i bought a plain black rucksack and there is always:
1) a ziploc bag (I like using ziploc because i can see everything) of nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, one extra outfit, tissue
2) a water bottle
3) my personal belongings
4) a hat for baby
5) an umbrella
6) joeysafe (harness for taxi)
i seldom leave home without the above. but if i am feeding my kid outside, i just bring along his food, spoon, bib and his mini booster seat if i know we're going somewhere without a highchair. sounds like alot but i think i've minimised as much as possible already! everything goes into ONE bag.

Depends on the outing, but I tend to just take my usual handbag out for short trips when I can get away with one nappy, a small pack of wipes and a small toy. Kind of nice to be able to use a 'normal' bag after lugging the kitchen sink around in a nappy number!

I love the skiphop line. I have this great diaper holder changing mat - and that has been awesome for my baby. Now she is a year, she really doesn't lie down for much so the mat is a bit useless, but until then I loved it. I also used inco pads which were nice because I could throw them away if I didn't like them, but I found the skip hop pronto (I think that is what it is called) to be the most convenient. I could just throw the thing into my bigger handbag and shlep my daughter around. My husband doesn't mind carrying it.
To be truthful, there is quite a bit out there that Dads already could carry (Jack Spade line, Eddie Bauer line, Skip hop, some boutiquey ones) so in order to compete, you'd have to pretty much outprice them.
