Does anyone know where I can find Maseca or Masaharina, the special dehydrated corn flour used to make corn tortillas and tamales? I'm located in guangzhou, but will be travelling to hong kong soon, so suggestions from those who live in either city would be greatly appreciated!!

And if you do find some, please post on here. I've been keeping my eye out to no avail (but I haven't been to IFC).

Was hunting for something in Citysuper (IFC) at the weekend and tried to keep an eye out for masa harina - couldn't see it in the flour, baking or cereals section. But you might want to give it a call before you plod around the place.
Also give Great a call first too. I have found both places to be quite helpful in checking for items, best to call at off peak times if you can.

I just put a suggestion in to 360 in the Landmark Building that they should think about stocking it. See what happens...

FYI. Gruma the maseca and tortilla corp has 1 factory in Shanghai. Yet, a challenge to find stock in HK.

I may be wrong, went to the market the other day, saw different kinds of flour and grains.
At Guoning supermarket in Binjiang Lu, I saw a few varities of flour, varying shades of white to yellow.

Jen Zen, went to Wangjia(Vanguard)in Wuyang yesterday p.m., saw in the organic section corn flour, on my way to pick-up yoghurt and milk, in the cooking oil and rice section (again) saw flour of varying shades, dark to very pale yellow.
Check the others, it may be the masa harina you're looking for.

JenZhen, I think that you and Jennymigs are talking about two different Gateways. There is a supermarket called Gateway in Des Voeux Rd Sheung Wan that stocks lots of US products, and I suspect thats the one Jennymigs is referring to. I've never been there, but it's as likely a place as any to have masa harina.

JenZhen, which part of GZ are you.
Have you tried ParknShop near you(if you have).
BTW, Wuyang St. is about ten minutes walk away from Ramada hotel, Clifford mansion.
Wangjia(Vanguard) is sorrounded by flats inhabited by the military so they have quality goods, including free-range eggs, chicken, pork and pesticide-free vegs.
