Some of those resorts listed to date had mixed reviews. Looking for a cheap retreat that offers excellent food, clean bunglows and friendly staff. Away from the bustle of main beach. Any personal recommendations. (Around 500 - 1300 THai bt)up to $300 a night.

Just came back from Lamai Wanta in Lamai - paid THB1,200 night for standard room. Clean with decent pool and restaurant.

They are usually fully booked (even in low season, which is right now) so try to book in advance.
