My little boy has just turned 3 month old, I have not invested in too many toys for his initial months but he is getting restless and I am running out of ideas to keep him amused and stimulated.
Looking for suggestions on toys/books etc to buy?I don't mind even if the life span of the toys is short. I just need to keep him stimulated during the day.
Thanks!

Tiny Love playmat is a great investment. Mine was fascinated with it at that age. babies love bright colours so anything with bright colours would be good. One other book she loved was a touch and feel book I bought from Dymocks. I don't know what it's called now.. but it has a butterfly at the front. It's hardcover and the front was reddish. It may have even been called "Touch and feel". It's got different surfaces to feel throughout the book - shimmery, cotton, fleece, crinkly cut cardboard, flip-ups etc. She just loved to feel the different surfaces.

any board books - kids love being read to and seeing the pictures at this age. Dr. Seuss books are great - there are studies which show that kids who are exposed to rhymes earlier do better in reading later. (something to do with phonics and understanding sounds.) don't underestimate your child's ability to enjoy books. The touch and feel books are great - the interactive Karen Katz books are also fun. (Counting Kisses) I love Where's Spot also for that age - both my girls LOVED that book. ANy lift the flap books - although they can't do it now, when you do it they get excited by it.

IKEA has very good and safe kids toys. They're reasonably priced, too. And also, look in your home. Mine used to like plastic containers, wooden spoons, blocks of wood, baskets etc. Just check for safety first. Even stuff socks and draw a funny face on them!
