I have been reading some of the threads to find a good quality reasonably priced hotel for us but am confused. I want to secure only one room for 2 adults, 2 kids -(kids can share a double bed if needed) in a hotel with good kids facilities. Can anyone recommend a good hotel that will not require us to book two rooms?

We just came back from Kota Kinabalu. We are a family of 3 and the resort Shangrila Rasa Ria had no problems putting us in one room. My son is 3 years old and he sleeps in the day bed (which they make up to a sleeping bed at night time). I met a family of 4 who also stayed in one room. Mom, dad and younger child in the bed and older child in the day bed

We stayed at the Rasa Ria last year and thought it was well worth it. We had a K size bed and they brought in 2 extra cots for the kids. Wasn't too crowded either. I think it was deluxe seaview room.
The kids loved the water slide at the pool. There is a children's menu in the poolside restaurant for lunch and a great market-style buffet for dinner. The kids' club was not extra charge and they went everyday. Around 4:00 or 4:30 they dress the kids up for Fire Lighting Ceremony (not dangerous) coincidentally the same time as Happy Hour!

We stayed at the Nexus Resort(Karambunai) 25 minutes from the city, on the beach. Great hotel and service and great children facilities. Covered shallow children's pool. Kids menu's, a supervised play room with many activities throughout day and evening. Outdoor activities too.. And for older kids, video games. Also, a private lagoon, with water trampoline, banana boat rides, kayaks, etc.
