Traveling by taxi in HK with baby

I will be moving to HK (NT) this year with a 4 month old baby. I am not sure how to tackle transport. Although we think we will most likely buy a car once we arrive, there will still be a need to travel by taxi i.e. to & from airport and immediately after we arrive until we buy a car. Can you put baby seats in taxis in HK and are there laws requiring children to be restrained in cars? Or do you just hold them on your lap in the taxi and hope for the best? That seems a somewhat scary option. I'd like to know how others have dealt with this. Many thanks.

Unfortunately, baby carseats are not practical for use in taxis. The reason being, once you arrive at destination, say for shopping, you wouldn't want to lug it with you.

Most people just carry theirs on the lap or alternatively you can buy a joeysafe harness which works like a seatbelt for kids during the journey. You can wait until your baby is older before buying this. You may need to do a search on the internet on where to purchase.

For a 4 month old, I remember I used to just put her in a baby bjorn which was attached to me.

The publich transport in HK is excellent. You may find that you can get to destinations a lot quicker by train or buses.
