I've had a look in a few estate agent windows at the weekend, but haven't had more time to investgate (a lot was in Chinese too!).
What can I get in terms of houses (not apartments) in the Sai Kung area for between $5m and $6m? I know there is a wide range of quality and location in Sai Kung and surrounding areas, but wondered if 2,000 sqft in a commutable area was possible.

With that price, you can get a "village" house, but not in the most commutable area. You would need a car, or have to walk out to the big roads.
it's possible, there are quite a bit near us.... Clearwater Bay area. In Sai Kung, just past the center of Sai Kung, if you go a little further along the main road, there were a bunch that I looked at. Around $ 5-$ 8 million, depending on the size.
They have 2 floors, plus the roof top. No "paved" roads leading to the houses, and no management.
