I have had same problem......not much you can do about it, except find some similar stain and try to apply it to the marks. OR try to lightly sand the marks away and apply new lacquer to the area.

My visiting in-laws put metal teapot with boiling water straight off the stove onto the table and left rings on it.....I didn't discover the marks until they had left when I lifted the thin tablecloth covering the table.

If the heat marks are like white rings, you can try using some toothpaste, rub gently using a flannel. Follow woodgrain to avoid scratches.

I have a teak dining table, but the mark was on the lazy susan.

Gisajob - Wow a steam iron, I would never have thought of that. However, I'm too scared to try it incase I make it worse.

Samros - I tried toothpaste last night and it did work to an extent as it's a little paler this morning, although still there. I'll try another application today.

Thanks everyone!

I think you're right HKBlue, re-staining maybe our only option. It is an old table so it is probably more than ready for a revamp.

Can't remember whether it was a brazil nut or a walnut (sure it won't hurt to try either), but my mum used to rub one over the heat stain on her dining table ... and the oil from the nut removes the stain ... it always worked!

if you do sand, you can let the table be at it's natural state.

For a natural wood look, wipe down sparingly with a little teak oil( follow the wood grain). This can be done 1-2x per yr for indoor furniture. I have several pcs of teak furniture which are at least a decade old and still in top condition.
