How much do you pay for your BUSINESS broadband?

I need to get connected at a commercial address and was wondering what kind of price I can bargain for. They (Netvigator) started by offering $478/month for 8mb connection on a 24 month contract with one wire and four wireless connections. Then they said $368 for a 6mb connection with four wireless and one wire. The cheapest one was $299 I think, for a 1.5mb connection with one wire only.

I think these are very expensive, so I was wondering if anyone else can report their better deals so I have something to shoot for.

This must be a BUSINESS account, not a residential. Any tips and/or recommendations of other companies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I think the price is fair for a business connection. I pay similar money. But one thing you should try to do is convince the engineer to give you the router username and password. It's kind of silly really they give you a router which they then lockup so you have no access to it at all. And the whole idea of that is so the lock up how many wireless connections you can use at the same time. In my opinion is a scam.

If you have a choice, say to them I don't want a wireless router, just the cable modem. Then buy your self a router for 300-400 HK$ and have as many wireless connections as you like. Besides you would have full access to the router (it always comes in handy when you need it).

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your advice. I guess I'll be taking a trip to the Wan Chai computer centre!

Cheers,

Nick
