Hi Everybody,
Does anyone have information about k1/k2 on the German/Swiss International School...My daughter will be 3 next year, and I am looking around for schooling. How long are waitinglists if any?? I am quite new to this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

I don't think that waiting lists are a major issue for K1/K2, as GSIS is selective. To the best of my knowledge, you just need to get your application form in by the closing date (Nov/Dec, I think), then your daughter will be invited to an assessment in Jan/Feb. I think it's only about half an hour to an hour, mostly supervised play during which time they ascertain the child's command of English.

Thanks for the info!
This might be a stupid question,but... I got their brochure, and they have quite a hefty debenture... Is this required for kindergarten, or does it kick in at primary school...I suppose the former...
Cheers

If i did not get it wrong. you mean the kindergarten in the international stream of gsis. Then, just forget about it. There will be no space for any new kid anyway. And the debenture, now at 250,000hkd is required also for the kindergarten. Do waste your time. find another school.
cheers

As I understand it the debenture is payable whenever your child enters the school (so includes Kindergarten).
Sonja, why would there not be any space for a new kid? My eldest was offered a space without any siblings in the school last year. Do they have a huge number of siblings this year or something?

The international stream was moved to Tin Hau last year due to the space problem. Now the german stream has its turn. The school has now 5 more classes in the primary in german stream. it means, no classroom for the kindergarten. only one class will exist for the international stream after summer. the school is not allowed to have more kids due to the space problem.
