This is a pretty old post - does anyone have any new recommendations or are these two still the best/most reasonable?
Does anyone have any idea about costs for routine texts (pap, pelvic)?
Thank you - picking a dr. is never fun away from home!

A bit more up to date. A highly recommended practice in Hong Kong is Dr Lucy Lord, Duddell Street Central. Tel. 28240822. Regarding privacy and well feeling it is a good one, depending however what you need. They are quite pricey. Another one which I personally think is better in terms of medical advice is OT&P Dr Poddar (male indian) Central as well Tel 25213181.

Dr. Sally Ferguson is excellent, she's based at Owens Trodd and Partners (OT&P) who have branches in Central, Wanchai, Repulse Bay etc.

Sally Ferguson seems too matter-of-fact to me.
I really need to find someone to calm first- time fears,
and NOT someone who likes a challenge of a tough pregnancy!
IS THERE a personable gyno who takes time with patients out there??
Help!

LOVE Dr. Albert Tsai at Adventist. My female GP recommended him saying he is so kind and understanding, he gets an "honorary woman" award! Have gone to him for years - he always has time to listen.

Dr. Tsai is also my gyn and he is great.......very patient....takes time to listen.
Saw him during my first pregnancy and now during my second one as well!

Sally Ferguson is wonderful. She is so calm and isn't the type of person to scare you or leave you worried. She answers all your questions, and has plenty of time for you. Just expect to wait a little as she dashes around delivering babies too. I'm afraid that Lucy Lord has a terrible reputation of being horridly rude and downright unpleasant.

I second Sally Ferguson. I am with her now for my second baby and find her very reassuring and caring. I suffered from pubic symphasis & postnatal depression with my first pregnancy and delivery in Australia and she has been very thorough with making sure everything is going as well as it can this time round, especially as I don't have my family & friends here. She is not touchy, feely or mollicoddling, she is straight up but at the same time gives me the time I need to discuss any concerns with her full attention. I would definately recommend her to anyone, i have full confidence when it comes time to deliver.

I can't believe Albert Tsai is still practising. I lost a baby at 7 mths because of him. He did not detect the abnormalities and it is a long story. Anyway, he is a nice guy but as a ob, I really do not recommend anyone go to him!
